Place: Boston INS application support center.

My wife\'s fingertip got amputated 3 days before finger print appointment, we asked Doctor to provide a document saying she won\'t have finger print even after her finger is healed. We brought that document with us when doing finger print, however, to my surprise, the official didn\'t ask for the document for photocopy, and I am not sure at that time whether he noted something on record(my guess is not), he just went ahead took 9 finger prints of my wife. One day later, I asked my lawyer, he said I don\'t have to worry about it. However, I DID worry about it a lot, is there a way to check? and What will happen if FBI reject it? starting I485 all over again? Please give me some ideas if you know a similar case?

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your wife's amputation. I am not sure about amputation. But I have heard about "not clear enough" fp. This could include smudge, or dirt or cuts or scars etc. If the FP is not clear enough, they send a letter and you have to go again for another FP. And then it usually works. Basically it is their way of making sure that it is you.

Now, for your case, I am sure the FP guy made some note that she only has 9 fingers. However, you might want to talk to the IIO and see if you can mail them your doctor's certificate.

2 cents.
