Fingerprints sent to Washington DC

Hi,

I recently went for my H1B stamping (F1 to H1) at Delhi and they took my fingerprints and asked if I have any criminal records or any offense. I NEVER had any such thing as far as I am aware of. They sent the fingerprints to Washington DC for FBI verifications and told that it is going to take atleast 4 weeks.
I have heard of people facing such problems in case they had any DUI or such background. But in my case its totally surprising to me as I never got any DUI or got arrested or anything.
Has anyone faced the similar problem? Is it possible to fasten the process (4 weeks process).

Thanks for any info.

dude,

This is nothing to do with you, but some sort of namehit. This is happening with increasing frequency nowadays... Just hang on tight and you will be cleared and will get the visa. Check my
other posts for the phone number to the FBI fingerprint division and call them up and you should get the status. Also really I hope it is only a fingerprint check instead of a SAO or namecheck which can take more time..

Hello,
Thanks for your responses. I have not yet received any response from the US consulate. Today 6 weeks are over and I am still waiting.
I called the FBI and they told me that they received my finger prints 3 weeks back and have send a report on the same day.
Since then 3 weeks have passed and and I have not got any response.
Do you have any idea what could be taking so long.

I would highly appriciate your help.
Regards,
Ajit

I think they have asked for a namecheck.

The same thing happened with me. I was fingerprinted on Nov 22 2004, and FBI had sent the results back on Nov 29th 2004. I have been waiting since then.

I hope this is not the case with you, and that you get your visa soon.

Wish you all the best.
