Finger prints do not change but criminal record may
All the INS want to do is to update your record and to make sure that you have not committed any criminal act after your prints were taken a year ago. Yes, they could have used your old finger prints to run the screening once again, but they decide to retake it. There may be various reasons behind it. The most significant one that I can think of is that the technique used to take FP has changed. They do computerized FP now, which is more reliable and can be processed very quickly. I wish you all the luck and hope that your case will be approved very soon after you new FP.
