Fingerprinting delay for H1-B visa

Hello:

I had gone to chennai consulate to get an H1-B visa sticker (stamping) and was fingerprinted. The letter that had given me said the process takes approximately 45 days, but the lady who took my fingerprints mentioned that sometimes it takes only 30 days.

Its been 32 days as of today and I am wondering how they would get back to me? By normal mail? We know how unreliable our mail system is and I dont want to leave this thing hanging. Is there anyway I could find out the status of their investigation perhaps?

And btw, although this is my first H1-B stamping, I've lived in the US for over 5 years first on F-1 and then on another H1-B.

Thanks for the replies in advance.

What are you waiting for? Fingerprint results? Or H1 stamp? You should have paid for the return courier service did you not? They will mail back your passport with the stamp using the TT courier services. I did not know that it takes >30 days (this is the first time I am hearing about fingerprinting @ chennai consulate).

You may call up the consulate to check the progress of your application, but suggest you wait till around 45 days (your call).

Henna,

Were you given any reason as to why you were finger printed?

This is the first time, that I have heard about finger print processing for H1B at Chennai.

Call them up and start enquiring about your passport.

I am stuck in the same boat but via the Delhi consulate. Please update your status on this site. I am also anxious to know when they actually get the results back for fingerprinting and then grant the visa.....
