I am working in US on H1B since Jan 2003, my H1B got extended in Jun 2004. I came to Mumbai, India on vacation in Jan 2005 for 4 weeks, I went to US consulate for VISA STAMPING on 21st Feb.
Formal interview was done and I was told that passport will be couriered within 1-2 days. When I was coming out of consulate, suddenly I was paged to contact. I went to the counter where I was interviewed, I was told that I have got a common name and my fingerprint has to be verified. I was asked to come with 3696/- draft which is the fee for fingerprint verificaiton. I came with the draft and my fingerprint sample were taken that very day.
I am onto 12th week now and I am yet to get the clearance. When I contact consulate they say they haven't heard from the Dept. yet on my case yet. They will inform me as soon as they get the clearance.
I have a clean driving/credit record and and I am not involved in any illeagal or criminal activites.
Kindly let me know the process or Dept. to expedite on my case. Thanks.
