No, the petitioner doesn't have to go with the beneficiary for the fingerprinting. I went there with my husband (the petitioner), and nobody even asked about him or checked his ID.
They would have mentioned it in the letter that you got informing you about the biometrics appointment. Just like they did mention it in the "interview letter".
