Fingerprint & Name Check

Dear Friends,

I am a new comer here. I have read discussions by you all but still have a question. How do you know if your I-485 is delayed because of the FBI fingerprinting and name-checking process? Please share and thank you.

Call NSC/TSC

One way is to call NSC or TSC:
1) 1-800-375-5283 options 1 --> 2 --> 2 --> 6 --> 1 --> Receipt# --> 1 --> 3 --> 4. Speak to IO and ask whether check(s) is/are cleared.

Another way is get the local congressman or senator to find out the status of you application from the INS. Infopass sometimes helps: they may or may not tell you are stuck in NC.

If your case is well within the processing window there is no need to bother, otherwise it might be a sign of being stuck in NC.

When you mean within the processing window - means 6 months from the date of the I485 receipt? For example - my case has been pending since September 2007, and EB3 PD is Sep 2004. So, I guess I can call after March 2008 i.e. 6 months from the receipt date of I-485 - right?

I just don't want to call and bother the IO, if it is well within the processing time.
