Fingerprint in bad weather - any advice?

Greetings to everyone,

First to let you know that your postings have been helpful to tons of people including yours truly. They are certainly appreciated.
Here's my problem. I am scheduled to be fingerprinted this saturday March 12 at the Boston DO. Well, there is supposed to be a significant snow storm around the scheduled time and I have a good hour's commute to Boston.

It's obviously too late to reschedule, and the notice I received clearly states that failure to show up effectively terminates my application

If the driving conditions are so bad, do I take the chance that the immigration folks will understand and reschedule my appointment or do I brave the weather and try to make the appointment?

My instinct is to do the latter ( we all know the type of folks I am dealing here). Any advice or insights?

Interview: ??

I have read posts describing people who did not come in time for some reasons and were allowed to give FP not on their exact date. (without having ot get a new FP notice).

If you candrive in advance andask if it is possible to do this then you can clear any risk you might be assuming.

That said, personally, only a hurricane level 5 would stop me from missing any USCIS appointment...

Good luck,

Yalag

P.S. The weekend temperatures in Atlanta will be in the upper 50's :p

Yalag,

Your point is taken. I will definitely brave the weather to be there for the appointment even if I have to leave home hours before.

Well, enjoy your "warm" Atlanta weather :) When summer comes and you're roasting in 110F heat, I will be sure to rub your nose in it :p

Just take into account one more thing.

Here (i.e. 2 inches snow tops a year Atlanta), when there is snow EVERYTHING is closed. It would really be a shame for you to endanger yourself for nothing (if federal bldgs are colsed when you come). Make sure (if you can) at the morning you leave that there are no official closings.

That being said, I hope the wheather will be fine and the snow will head towards Montreal.

solasoy,

The coming storm is going to be relatively mild compared to what we have had this winter so far, in New England (And you know as well as I do we have had a lot !!). Thats the forecast for Bosoton, don't know whats your local. Its just some rain and snow, so I would say by all means go to the FP appointment. As always do check the wether a few hours beforeleaving, as weathermen can be fickle sometimes !

Glad to hear that the weather in Boston is not too bad. The weather forcast for central massachusetts indicates moderate to heavy snow, but I should be fine if I leave at a decent time.

Will let you know how the FP session goes.

Sertra2002, GeneM, Yalag,

I made my FP appointment at the scheduled time and the weather was as bad as I imagined it to be. In spite of this, it I still had to wait an hour for my fingerprint to be taken

Thanks for your advice

Happy to hear you got back safely.

Hope you will have your interview and oath in Spring with wonderful weather.

I cannot help myself but report that in Saturday we had a lovely 68. Today, however, we had a gorgeous 77.

In the summer I am moving to Anchorage, AK.
