Born out of an undergraduate project at the California Institute of Technology, DigitalPersona develops fingerprint verification systems for personal computers and PDAs. Their software uses a variety of complex algorithms to scan and compare fingerprints, which are used as a password for files, networks or online transactions, in less than 200 milliseconds.
