Finger prints- info entered manually in the system. Please clarify

Me and my wife went to give finger prints in Alexandria office. After filling out the forms . we were taken to the computer to give finger print. The guy who took my finger prints was able to scan my Finger print notice and he asked me to verify my name and ssn and other information and confirmed that everything is OK and took my finger prints.
But the lady who took my Wife for finger printing was not able to scan my wife’s finger print notice. Is this possible?. So she enter my wife’s info manually into system and asked her to confirm the information and took the finger prints. Is it okay to enter the information into the system manually if they are not able to scan the notice? Please confirm.
After taking the finger prints they returned us our finger print notices (with their stamp ,reference number and date on it).

How long will it take to get the finger print report. How can we know the status. Is there a number to contact , If so what should we ask to confirm everything is OK. Please clarify.

On your FP notice all your information is encoded on the long bar code. This bar code is read by the machine so that all information comes up. But if the FP letter is damaged then the information does not come up so the FP operator enters it manually. It is fine as long as the FP operator entered the correct information into the computer.

You can give it one to two days and check.

I gave my fingerprints in the early morning and I called the FBI on the same day in the afternoon and they were able to tell me that my fingerprinting results were sent back to USCIS the same day.
