Hi,

My wife applied for her passport just before our marriage and she got her passport with her original last name. She filled in my Last name(which is different from her last name) at all the places where the last name was asked for in her 485 application, Drivers License, ITIN number etc....

I have the following questions:

1. Do I need to get her last name changed in her passport to my last name for Finger printing?

2. How many ids do you need for finger printing? Is Drivers License alone sufficient as an id for finger printing?

Please advise. I have my finger printing scheduled with in the next 2 weeks.
 
If she has EAD also then no problem. They need two photo ids with both first and last name.

But some centers requires passport. You can check with peole already fingerprinted in your center.
 
While there shouldn't be any problems for the FP purpose, I do believe that there will be a problem when your case get appoved and you guys go for Passport Stamping...
 
driver's license and EAD

I did my FP in boston. I brought just my driver's license. THe officer asked for EAD. I said I forgot it at home. He said next time you go to any INS office bring your EAD with you but it's ok this time. I saw some people with passports. I suggest if you have a passport problem avoid bringing it with you. Remember those who apply for GC and do FP don't all have passports. Some are refugees so they can't obtain passports.
 
It depends on your ASC office.......I don't remember showing two ids when I did my FP.......but even otherwise it's better to get her name changed in the passport to avoid any confusion later...
