Finger Printing

A few questions about Finger Printing process:

My I-765 was waiting for more than 90 days (130/485/765 pending) and I went to the DO and got my iEAD. I haven't got any letter for finger printing from USCIS yet.

On the day I went to get my iEAD, the immigration officer took me inside her office, took my photo and took my 'thump impression' on a paper/card. Now, was that suppose to be my finger printing? OR was it a part of the iEAD card processing? She didn't mention anything about the finger printing process and I didnt have FP appointment letter.

I am little confused now about the actual finger printing process. Anybody who had finger printing done before, please reply. Is there a FP process for EAD/iEAD or is it just for I-485?

rajjp,

You should be getting 2 FP notices,1 for 485 and 1 for EAD.I think it is better to call uscis and enquire about your FP notice. The delay may be due to your I-130,I am not sure but it is a possibility. So it is better to talk to someone at the uscis over the phone or take an INFOPASS appointment.

Does that mean I didn't have the actual 'finger printing' process done that day? Anybody know why they took my FP for iEAD?

My 2 cents..

In your post you merely mentioned the officer had taken your 'thumb' impression and photo before issuing your iEAD.Normally you would receive 2 notices 1 for EAD and 1 for 485 FP.On the notice they will list the ASC center code where you need to go for FP.They also instruct you to call 1-800 number and get an appointment. When you call the 1-800 number the call rep would ask you some information listed on the notice like A#,ASC code. After that a date would be given to you along with a confirmation number. You need to take the notices along with the confirmation number and show it at the ASC center at the time of your appointment. For FP they take impression of all the fingers of your right and left hand. They will take your picture as well. After confirming the data on their system they will date stamp your notices.

Looking at what you have said, they merely took the thumb impression for issuing your iEAD only and not for your 485.

So please contact your DO and take INFOPASS appointment.

Hi,
I just had my biometrics appointment 2 weeks ago for I-485 and I-765.
It was code 3. They took fingerprints of all fingers of both hands ( first they took prints of the left hand with all fingers and then they did prints of fingers of the left hand separetly, then they did the same with the right hand ), after that they took a picture, and then they also asked for my signuture.

It doesn't look like you had a proper fingerprinting. I agree with csam.

biometrics for EAD/AP and for i485 are different.
codes 1 and 2 are for EAD/AP (not sure which for which exactly, haven't applied for them yet). They include thumb fingerprint and photo.
Code 3 includes all 10 separately, 5+5 and photo. Normally code 3 covers codes 1 and 2.
What you COULD do, is to tell the officer that you also have i485 pending and ask him to do code 3, while you're at it. Now you'll probably have to wait for FP appointment from USCIS.

Hello,
the thumb impression is not rrelated to the actual finger printing. i got my iEAD and had to give the thumb impression when she made that id. But you should get 2 other fp notices one for 765 and one for 485.
