Finger Printing Results

Hi All,
I am sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I tried the search and found none.
We (my wife and me) appeared for fingerprinting in March 2004. The online status for my wife says:
"On May 6, 2004, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made."

And, for me, it still says:
"On February 20, 2004, we mailed a notice requesting that you appear for fingerprint recording. The notice also gave the times and location where this processing could be done. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283."

I called FBI. I was told that the results for the both of our cases were sent to INS way back in March '04.

Should I be worried? Or, should I take it easy?

Any inputs are welcome.

Thanks.

You should take it easy because by worrying you can not change anything. Times and again we have seen that USCIS site is not very reliable about updates to status.

For my first EAD and AP it is still showing that application has been received whereas those are already expired and I applied for the new ones. So, whenever they would get a chance they would update the message for your case.

Exact same case

Hakoona ..... I am in the same boat. Appeared for fingerpriting in March 20, 2004. Then suddenly since mid-May the online status is saying that they received the fingerprints in May 6, 2004. I'm not sure if their entire site was added with the same text. But I sure want to check with FBI too. Can you please post how/where to call FBI to ask whether my checks have been completed? Thanks a lot!

same status for me too

We did FP in Mar 2004.For me lud is 5/6/04 and for my wife's status says that "On February 20, 2004, we mailed a notice requesting that you appear for fingerprint recording. ...blah..blah..."
When I called Customer Service line, the representative told me that you should not worry about the FP status of your wife. It's just not updated on website but her FP is already processed.Hope so she is right.

Don't worry!

Me and my wife did FP2 in March 2004.
We did early FP in Newark, Saturday at 1pm. The guard said that day is slow, so he allows early FP.
My wife's case was updated in few days with results, mine stuck on old FP1 message until today.
Today both of them read "Approved"!

I-485: Mar 13 2002
FP1: June 2002
FP2: Mar 2004
AD: June 18 2004
Received e-mail : June 21 2004

We are in the same boat

so, no worry!

Same experience.
I have my first finger printing during mid-April, 2003. It is july, 2004 and my I485 status still says "On March 19, 2003, we mailed a notice requesting that you appear for fingerprint .....". My wife whose finger printing was done in mid-may 2003, got her status updated. (Why my wife has a different finger printing date is another story.)
Any ideas what is happening ?

Don't worry, they don't bother to update the online system for FPs. The only things that they update timely ar transfers and approvals ... I saw cases with Received of FP sent in June 2004 which became "Resumed in Jan 2004" at the next scan in July 2004, so they received the FP result in Jan but updated the system in July.

Finger prints taken at USCIS goes to FBI for back ground checks. FBI is very efficient and processes and sends it to USCIS within 3-4 weeks. Once your finger prints are taken, you can check with FBI whether your back ground has been checked and your finger print report has been sent back to USCIS or not. FBI does not tell whether the finger prints were rejected or whether they found anything negative about you.

FBI can be reached either at 304-625-5590 or at 304-625-2406. They are located in West Virginia and it is the same number for whole of US. If the representative comes to the phone, he/can tell you about your case immediately or no one picks the phone, you may leave the message giving your spelled out name, contact phone number and Alien Number, (also called 'A' number. This is number is in the I-485 receipt notice and also in the Finger Print notice). They are usually prompt in returning phone calls.
