Finger Printing Results for I-485

Yes. If the fingerprint was acceptable by FBI standards and they did not match any prints in the FBI database, theres hould be a status update within 5 days of the day you did the prints.

But, why the derivative’s LUD may never change until the GC is granted but the principal’s LUD changes next day after the FP although a couple may have their FP done at the same time? Do you know it?

I have never heard of that, but it may be true. However, since each case is a separate case, regardless if derivative or primary applicant, they are subsequently processed as separately cases, meaning they are assigned separate LUDs and separate status updates.

Hi folks,

I did my Biometrics (Code 3) on 01/04/06. I saw LUDs on 01/05/06 and 01/06/06 on my I-485. However, there was no change in the message and I did not receive an e-mail update. Are these LUDs a good sign?
My application is EB2, non-retrogressed country.

Thanks

I believe this is true for VSC. It is not true for NSC! I've seen NSC applicants get LUDs but no change in message.

Because the Code 3 was done only 2 days ago, the FPs may not yet be cleared. Wait a few more days before getting too concerned. The LUDs can refer to the biometrical information reaching the USCIS, but you may still not have the FPs cleared because you only did the FP 2 days ago. Keep in mind that the FPs go through the FBI before the results reach the USCIS while the biometrics go directly to the USCIS.

I did my fingerprinting on Dec 20th, 2005. LUD changed on both Dec 20th and 21st, without any change in the message. Since then nothing has changed.

Hi Bjorn,

When you say FPs, do you mean name check as well? I called the FBI and they said that they send back the results to USCIS within 2 minutes, on the same day. They wouldn't tell me the results though. What should I make of this?

Thanks

FBI Phone Number

How would you call the FBI to check if finger pirnts has been cleared? Is there a phone number where we can do that?

Thanks

Sambo

Finger Prints Cleared The Same Day

I just called the FBI Fingerprint Status at (304) 625-2000, and I learned that my finger prints have been sent the same day I had them (OCT 20th, 2005). Do you I have to call the name check division and check on my name?

They (FBI) will not tell u.... to find out the status of ur name check go on an infopass appointment... this is what i did when i found that mine i still pending :( :(

I only mean FPs. The name check is a completely different beast. FPs go really fast for eveyone. Name check can go very fast or extremnely low, depending on if your name gets any hits.

That's it: name check, fingerprints, and biometrics. No more.

Bjorn,

Thanks for the reply. I talked to someone form USCIS and she told me that my name/dob was cleared, but not fp yet. When I called FBI, they said that they send back the results the same day. I am assuming that although FBI might have cleared FP from their end, someone at USCIS needs to clear it as well for this information to appear on the "online status update" Is this a correct assumption?! I did biometrics (code3) on 1/4/05

Also, what she told me is that since my I-140 is not approved yet, I-485 won't be approved until that is done.

Name check cleared. That's great news. If the FBI sent back the FP to the USCIS, it should only take 2-3 days before the USCIS updates your status. If it's more then, let's say, one week, there may be a problem at the USCIS end. In that case, call the USCIS and check. If they have no clue, perhaps bring the FP letter you already used for the original FP and go back to the ASC and tell them about this. Perhaps the ASC has some more knowledge or they can find out what's going on.

Do you mean the FBI has completed everything if the status/LUD is updated within 5 days? Can you provide the info source, from the USCIS or the FBI? The reliable info is needed.

FP vs name check

Hi everybody;

I did my FP on January 06 and my LUD changed to 01/09/06 but the message is still the old one that got updated when they received my response to the RFE.

Will the message also change once they clear my name or whatever is the FBI does?

thanks

I had got my FP done on 12/28/2005 and then had called FBI for the FP status and was told that they had sent the same day, but still there is no LUD change. I called USCIS today and was told that they are processing July 12th 2005 applications and call them back after 30 days if I dont see any LUD change. Is this normal ? or there is some other way to find out?

People on this forum have systematically reported such timeline, and my experience also supports this - 2-3 days for the FPs to clear with status change and 10 days for name check clearance days (assuming no "hits"). I have also found information on the web to support it. Just google the topics and you will come across some FBI documents outlining the FP and name check procedures and timelines.
