Anyone from Columbus, OHIO has gone for fingerprinting (walk-in) a week before their appointed day? Do they accept walk-ins? Is there a phone # to call. I have appointment on 10/20 but I would like to go on 10/13 or so.

Anyone?

I am in the same situation too for DesMoines, Iowa. I would like to walk in on 15 October. My appointment is scheduled on 29th october. Please advise.

I am from Columbus, OH. The IOs there are very nice and the work load is very very minimal. I don't believe there is a huge issue to take you if you have something urgent on the 10/20. Give a try.

There are lot of meters nearby the buliding and you will only take 30min or 60mins MAX to get your FP.
Last time, I have 2 persons ahead of me and it only take me 20 mins all together.

Thanks. I will try it out next week. I just want to get it done. Do you know their timings? Is it from 9 to 5?

I see that you received your EAD Card. My online status says "Card Production Ordered" on 9/26, but still haven't received the card. Did your status change when you received the card or approval notice (I haven't got the approval receipt yet)

Thanks again!

I got my EAD email on 9/20, got my card on 9/26, got my ssn applied 9/28 and i got SSN card 10/5.

I starting working as on 10/1

Unless there is something different they have to do an "early" FP, I would recommend to just show up around 11:00 AM and present them your FP notice. Do not try to explain upfront that your date is 10/20. See what happens. If they object and tell you to come back on the scheduled date of 20th, then try to explain your reasons why you want to do it early.
As belacut pointed out, there is not much load in the Columbus office, there is a good chance that they will let you do it before the scheduled date.

I recommend 11:00 because a few of my friends went at that time and there was absolutely no finger printees. Also at that time, more than likely the supervisor for the FP section would have gone thru his morning emails etc, and you might be able to talk to him and get him to accept your early FP if the persons at the front desk don't let you do it.

A little off topic: a friend of mine and his wife got FP notices for two different dates; but they both went on the first scheduled date and they did them both with out any question.
