Finger Print retake question

Hi everyone,

I recently received a letter asking me to retake the biometric since "FBI was unable to process the finger print card".
I read some of the posts in the forum stating if the first FP failed, the second won't work either due to the machine problem? and if the 2nd does not work, USCIS will ask people to send police clearance for the places people lived during the last 5 years?

My questions are:

1. is it true that the 2nd FP won't work if the 1st did not?
2. does FP affect the speed of my application (does USCIS still process my other application or they just stop until they get my biometrics done)?
3. does it mean my GC will be delay at this pace?
4. I have lived in three different countries in the past 5 years. If I failed the 2nd FP, do they ask for every single police clearance? I am not sure if I can go back to find the police station in the countries I lived. is there any other ways?

This happened to my wife, she was sent back a second time for FP
The guy who did it for her said she was the fourth that day.
Its more common than you may think.
He also said that she will not be asked back. That is the end of it.
There was no suggestion that we would have to prove anything beyond that second attempt.
Hopefully, it will not delay things Our application was submitted on August 2nd so we are still waiting.
 
Thank you very much Solucky! We sent the application in in Sep. We will see if things are getting lucky the second time!

There is a cream or lotion that some people use on their fingers for a few days (but not on the day of the fingerprinting itself) to improve the readability of their fingerprints. I don't remember what it is though.
