Finger print question.

Hi,
My current stamping(Dec30 2003) has expired. I need to go back to India for a one month leave. However to come back to US I will have to get my passport restamped. Right now, in India the appointement date for visa stamping are given with leadtimes of 6 month. I cannot wait for 6 months in India to get the visa stamped. Another way, I think, to get in US is to get visa stamped in Canada. Let me know if there will be any problem because of the Finger print issue. I do not remember if my finger prints were taken last time my visa got stamped in 20 Dec 2004. I heard finger printing has to be done in the native country. Please advice if I will face any legal problems in case I go back to India and get my visa stamping done in Canada.

Thanks.

I dont know weather this information will be useful to you or not. I got my first H1B stamp from Islamabad in May 2002 and yes they didnt take any fingure print at that time.

And in my this trip to Pakistan, i applied for myself as well as for my wife at Feb 23rd, got clearness at Feb28th and stamp on my passport at March 2nd 2006.

So it all took only 8 calander days for security clearness plus visa stamping, although i took 3 months off from my office exactly due to this reason. I guess security clearness is much stream line now.

Wish you best of luck.

Only requirement is that you should have at least one H1B stampped from your home country that it seems you do have. It is nothing like that finger printing need to be done from home country first time. As long as you have proper documents such as w2s, paystub, employer letter you should be ok.
