andyforGC and give_me_gc_yaar,

Can you check your kids' FP notice and post it here about what code is written on it..

It should have only code 2. We have not received FP notice with code2 for my 8 years old daughter. I am little concerned about it. Please see details below about codes.

Code1 -> Regular Finger print

Code 2 -> Biometrics (Digital Photo+Finger Print of one finger)

Code 3 -> Both regular Finger Print and Biometrics

It's Code 2

Hi raaj97,

You are right! The code is 2.
The notice has following info:

CASE TYPE: I485
Application No.: WACE#
Code: 2
Service Center: WSC
Notice Date: 3/17/2005
USCIS A#: A#

and the address, date and time of appointment.

I was under the impression that children under the age of 14 is not to be finger printed.

Where did you get the Code 2 (and code 1, 3) info?

Does it mean that this is not the mistake from USCIS side and we need to do the FP for my kid?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Andy,

Did you received FP notice for your kid with your FP notice or diff? i received FP notice for me and my wife and not for my 7 year old son.

Received FP separately for kid

Hi,

We had done our FPs in Sept 2004. We did not receive FP notice for our kid then. And now we received FP notice for our kid with code 2.

Hi Mentu

I recieved FP notice for me and wife earlier and did FP on march 2.
this monday (march 21 ) recieved for my kid.

Plan to do early, if the officer allows it.

FP for kid(s)..

We received FPs for me and wife's but not for my 8 years old daughter. FPs are scheduled for 8th April at Newark, NJ. Today I spoke to USCIS customer support and inquired about non-receipt of my daughter's FP notice (only biometrics). I was told that for kids the FP notices would be sent usually after parents are done their FPs and received by USCIS successfully. I am not sure if this info is true. Any comments..
Thnx

Code1 -> Regular Finger print

Code 2 -> Biometrics (Digital Photo+Index Finger Print). Kids have this code on the FP Notice

Code 3 -> Both regular Finger Print and Biometrics (code1+code2)

i suppose thats correct because we received my son's FP notice after 2nd attempt for FP which might have been successful (the first FP was not clear).

we have also received Finger print notice for my 9 year old daughter today.
Did you have any update (LUD) for the finger printing notice, before getting or after submitting?

code: 2
Notice date: 03/17/2005
Service Center WSC.

And as in the past, can we go for Finger Printing (for kid) earlier than the appointment date, and is it possible to give the finger prints in another office other than the scheduled office (eg: SFO vs Sanjose)

After seeing the above information, I wonder whether we have to go for finger printing for our selves too....? We had our finger printing some time in Novemebr 2004 and we gave only finger prints (10). I think it is regular finger print (don't know the code), but NO Digital Photo or Signature. So you think we have to give that befoere getting the GC?

One more question, Is this thge new law or this was same in the past too. I mean do the kids under 14 should give the finger prints/biometrics for GC?

Regular finger prints done for adults is to check if the applicant is involved in crime. The biometrics(digital photo and index finger print) is for printing on the green card. So in the case of kids only biometrics(code2) is required. In the case of adults both code1 and code2 are required. Both may be done together or at different times, depends on the USCIS scheduling.

Thanks for the info.

What I mean is, for us, we had general Finger printing (No digital signatare and dig photo have been taken), IS it mandatory to have Biometrics (digital signatare and dig photo) to grant the GC??

When I spoke to USCIS yesterday about digital photo+digital signature with index finger print (code2), I was told that these are generally required for e-filers.I don't know how far this info is correct. But from many threads and postings on the forums it is clear that every one is needed code2 also sooner or later but before getting card. Please post your experiences if I am wrong or if you have more in-depth info about this issue.
Thnx

one thing is emerging from the post on various forum for past few weeks is that in earlier days biometrics were taken at passport stamping (after I485 approval), whereas biometrics is nowadays being taken before approval. If FPs already given then one gets call for biometrics as one more FP notice with code 2 and if FPs not given then FP notice with code 3.

And one more thing is that few cases are seen recently getting Plastic Card (GC) without passport stamping (of cource after I485 approval). Which makes sense as biometrics (required for card printing) were already collected with FP. Probably a new procedure. If that's true, then its good for us eliminating PP stamping appointment.

FP Code 2 notice

We also received notice for FP for my 9 year old. (ND:3/17/2005)
Is this something new? I never heard this before.
Also we just did FP for us in NOV. So will we get CODE 2 notice again?

even i recd code 2 notice of action for my 7 yrs old - out here in Los Angeles, CA.
so i guess it is normal.....

however my only main question is - around how much time does it take after this code2 / code 3 to get the final approval ?? does 485 approval means green card or it takes more time to get the actual GC (intervide call) - hope someone can help me.. thank you :)
