Financial Ties

Hi friends,

I am applying visitor visa for my mom at Chennai Consulate. She is 73 and house wife. Since she is too old , do I need to show any financial ties to India ? She does not own any property. I am planning to show some bank balance of 4 lakhs. Is that be enough? Have anyone come across this situation.

Any help will be greatly appreciated ?

Thanks in advance...

Srinivas.

Financials are required for 2 reasons: (a) To prove that she can pay for her visit and would not become a public charge in US and (b) To prove that she would return to her country as she has financial ties there.

If you are sponsoring her, u should provide I-134 which would take care of (a). For (b), u can show property, cultural differences, other relatives, etc.

Also, as she is 73, I am assuming you would be applying thru drop box, and hence would be sending all docs instead of carrything them.

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned in my earlier, she does not own any property. How much bank balance would be appropriate ?

Thanks again..
