Financial Past - Will affect my visa?

When I moved out of the USA years ago I run into trouble paying my credit cards so I run into default and my credit report became trash.

Would this past pop up at any point?

If it does, would it affect my DV in any way?

Anyone with this experience?

Thanks

JC

No, it will not.

But next time you try to get a loan, as a consequence of your credit scores

i. Getting a loan is going to be extremely difficult
ii. Even if you do get a loan, you will pay an exorbitant interest rate.

NOTE: Uncle Sam really doesn't mind if you don't pay someone else's dues, but he really wants to make sure that you pay him his. As long as he gets his share, he lets people alone. READ: PAY YOUR TAXES.

Like darkhorse say, it will not affect your visa because the U.S Embassy/Consulate have no access to the credit company.

But..it will affect your life in the U.S.

it won't afect your DV visa ; my advise for anyone emigrating to the USA is to avoid ever aplaying for any kind of credit from the banks -that is shure fire road to ruin in the USA

bmx88,
I'm not sure its good advice to tell anyone to avoid getting credit from the banks. Like anything else, you need to be wise about loans/credits and not abuse it.

My problem was not misuse, or unwise use or whatever. I was paying faithfully but when I move out I had a massive reduction in my income and I found myself in a rather bad situation. It did not last long but long enough to trash my credit anyway. But then again credit in itself is not the issue we are discussing here but how a bad credit could or could not affect the outcome of the DV interview.

Thanks a lot!
