My turn to say approved !!!

I've been in States since 1993. Went thru labor cert process from 2001. Also 245-I lifer.

My ND is May 3, 2002. The case was xfered to local office for the interview on April 28, 2003. Had my interview 2 weeks ago in Cleveland BCIS office. Today got approval letter (came in by regular mail) and went to get the temporary evidence of green card (my pasport expired ages ago). Plastic card should be mailed within 6 month (so the letter said).

My local xfer did speed up the process, thanks to the kind NSC folks

:)

The 10-year old nightmare is over now. Feels good to feel free at last. The best of luck to all of you still waiting. Your turn will come too one day. Thanks everyone on this forum for your support.

Congrats!

I'm surprised to see someone from 1993 just got GC. I thought I'm the last one waiting from that year. Enjoy your freedom!

Thats great news, enjoy your freedom, can i ask what category did u file eb2/eb3 and what was the interview like. Also did you have the interview for i140 or just the 485. Iam in the same boat and very curious.

Thanks in advance

gsweb... congrats! :) I have been here since 1993 too, but the nightmare is yet to be over! Enjoy the freedom.

congratulations! was it faster

because of asylum case changed to EB based I-485?
How May case got transferred, do you have any explanation on this pattern? What country are you from? Thanks.

congratulations

congratulations! now, i have two questions for you.

1) Could you please tell me what you had to do upon renewing your EAD? In other words, what sort of documents did you need?

2) I thought Employment Based I-485 did not need to have an interview...has this changed?

Thanks,

Ghareeb

thanks guys,

I'll try to answer your questions shortly.
It was EB3 category.
Ghee, I don't know if my pending asylum had to do with anything, other than contributed to the local Xfer (well, thank God to that), and I had to withdraw it before the approval was granted. No pattern here, total randomness. But my Xfer also coincided with filing EAD renewal back in February, I'm certain whoever reviewed this at NSC also pulled my I-485 and issued immediate Xfer. Things work in mysterious ways in this life.

Now I have a question for gurus:
If one don't have the passport and can not obtain it from the counrty of origin, is there any options available to travel, other than waiting 6 years for citizenship? I mean the form I-131 allows to apply for reentry permit for LPR, and it's good for returning to US (only if leave for year or longer). But say if you need to leave US for the country that needs visa, where they supposed to put it if there is no passport?

if anyone can share thoughts on this, thanks in advance
