I interviewed on 5/9, and received my oath letter yesterday after more than 5 months of anguish wait.
To this day, I still have no idea what happened. Although I am a Chinese, my name is not common at all. I sought help from my congressman's office in late August. CIS replied that they are waiting for my name check. It took another one month to get a letter from FBI stating that the name check was completed and sent back to CIS DC in April (they never replied to my email, only to the quiry from my congressman's office). So the person assigned to my case called CIS back, and was told FBI just meant the FP is done. I asked him to call again because the FBI letter clearly stated "name check" not "finger print" (I was very angry and thinking about lawsuit at that point of time). After another week, he told me CIS said everything was cleared on 9/29.
I called CIS customer service yesterday. The guy told me that my case was not uncommon. A lot of times CIS blames the delay on name check long after it is completed by FBI. Maybe they are some other types of check by CIS, or maybe it takes long time in some cases for CIS local to get the result from the DC headquarter.
Anyways, I am so happy it is all over now.. Although I don't like the lenghthy process (5 years 3 months, probably less than most people have experienced), I am still very excited and proud to be an American citizen. This country has given me many opporunities in the past 5 years. I hope I can keep both citizenships.
Good luck to everybody-
