Hi All!

Rcvd GC stamp today. Started the marathon 4 years ago.
PD: Oct 1997
485: Sep 1999
FP: Mar 2001
RFE: Aug 10, 2001 (sent2VSC)
AN: Aug 30, 2001 (approval notice)

Unfortunately my wife and baby could not be here to enjoy the news.
My next marathon is to bring them here.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my scenario:
o Filed I-485 for spouse+self in Sep 1999.
o Went on vacation to India in Jan 2001 prior to FP.
o Found out in India that wife is having a high-risk pregnancy
and cannot travel. The baby will have to be born in India.
o I (alone) returned to US to find FP notice in the mail.
o INS refused to reschedule wife\'s FP on medical grounds and
advised me to do follow-to-join after I get my GC.
o Doing follow-to-join for my wife is no problem (married before 485)
but how do I bring my newborn to this country?
To be more specific:
Do I need to sponsor my newborn under family category which could
take between 1 to 3 years or is there a faster way?

Thanks in advance.

1 year to FP

why it took 1 yr 4 months to clear FP. need info please

1 year to FP

It did not take 1.4 yrs to clear FP.
What I meant was:
We filed 485 in Sep 99.
Waited for FP notice to arrive for 1.3 yrs.
Decided its no point waiting and went to India for vacation.
When I returned from India, there was a FP notice waiting in my
mail box.
Usually FP notice is given 3 months before the actual appointment
date but in my case INS gave us less than three weeks - it sucks.
By the time I got the notice we had just 10 days before the
appointment. Not enough time for wife to return to US even if
her health was good.

I gave FP on Mar 1, 2001. Got an RFE in August. So you can say
it took 5 months for them to process my papers after FP.
