Its my turn to say its approved...after waiting 2 years 2 months in 485 stage

My case was transfered from VSC to local office in Aug-2003 and I received interview letter in Dec-2003 to attend interview on 05-Jan-2004 10:30 am. In the interview letter they just asked me to bring employment letter showing pay rate and number of hours/week(I was worried because they did not asked for INS style photos). My attorney accompained me to the interview, the adjustment officer called for interview at 11:10am they were late because the adjustment case which was scheduled before mine gave some serious issue and they had to deport the applicant. My attorney told me not to be tensed with the situation because mine is EB category and we have all the documents, (belive me I was so tensed at that moment).

The adjustment officer called my name, then my attorney asked if my wife also need to come now or later, he said that he will see me first and her later (it's strange, all the posting I read here in this forum said both will be interviewed at same time). My attorney and myself went into the room and the officer immediately started asking questions from 485 application and looked into all the visa stamps in the passport to make sure I was in status all the time (and I was in status all the time in US). Later he asked the employment letter and asked if I am with the same employer. ( and I was).

He said the case looks good and stamped the passport (took the I-94 and EAD) and told he was not sure why the case got transfered. Supprisingly he asked if I have my wife's passport, I-94 and EAD card with me and took and also went thru her 485 application and stamped her passport.

Taking the attorney made difference in the process, because the attorney knew the adjustment officer and they started talking abt other cases & abt the holidays. He made it very cool atmosphere in the interview room.

Below are the details abt my 485 case.

ND- Nov 2001
TD- Aug 2003
ID- 05-Jan-2004
AD & Stamped on 05-Jan-2004.

Thank you all & good luck.

Congrats on your approval after a long wait.

***started asking questions from 485 application***

Did you receive two separate interview letters for you and your wife or just one interview letter for your family?

Please let me know. Is your lawyer based locally? How much you paid for taking the lawyer with you?

Regular Questions

The officer asked the below questions..

1) All the standard questions in 2nd page (like arrest records answer was no for all)

2) Are you still working for same employer who filled 140. Answer was Yes.

3) Parents names and place of birth?

4) Current address & Phone numbers ?

I paid 180/hour for the attorney to represent for me during interview, it took 2 hours for him. So the total is 360 dollars.

Thanks

Thanks for your answers.

My initial question was - did you receive 2 separate interview letters (one for you and one for your wife) or just one interview letter addressed to you?

There are some postings in this forum that primary and derivative (spouse) applicants receive two separate interview letter and two separate interview dates?

Thanks
