Hello All,

Finally its my turn say that mine and my wife's case has been approved.

RD 7/23/2001
ND 8/27/2001
FP 12/30/2001
AP 09/03/2002

Frankly, I am not finding the approval that much charming now that its done!
Anyway here are some interesting points about my case..

My I-140 was approved for CP. :- This was the thing I was worried about. When I called NVC , I was told that my I-140 files have been sent to Mumbai Consulate in APR , 2001. My lawyer kept telling me that this is no big deal. (I guess he is right.!) Never contacted the consulate.

AVM.-> Untill yesterday AVM played the 'Pending Review...' shit. It just turned to 'This case has been approved' message today.

Talked to IIO 2 times since application. Once to change the address on my case. And another time to check the FP status.

Good luck to all.

Take Care.

Here are my details.

I DON't think EB Category matters at this point. I am in EB3 category.

Mine was a very very straight forward case.

Came to US on H1.
Changed Job after 3 1/2 years to my current employer.
Current Employer applied for GC. Did RIR labour.
Labour took 8 months.
I-140 took 20 days. !!!!! (I-140 was approved for CP.)
Waited long for priority date to become current.
Filed for I-485 on 7/23/2001.
Had all the docs. Had all vaccinations.
Changed address three times during the whole process.
No RFEs.
By GOD's GRACE. Approved on 09/03/2002.
Do not intend to change my job soon.

Take Care.

>>>When I called NVC , I was told that my I-140 files have been sent to Mumbai Consulate in APR , 2001. >>>

You said you talked to NVC..
I tried all the different options at NVC AVM but could not find any option for customer support. Would you please let us know the phone number where you can talk to someone at NVC.

Thanks in advance

Its the same number...

Which appears on you I-140 approval notice. where it says that your file is forwarded to NVC for further procesing.

Long time ago ( I think it must have been an year or so) a there was a discussion on this board about this same subject. And I got curious and scared. One fine morning, I called the NVC. I was expecting some AVM. But a person picked up the phone. Hard to believe, eh! I asked him about AVM. He said if I had any problem talking to a live person. Which I certainly did not. He told me about my I-140 file which was with Mumbai consulate by that time. I asked him about this CP-AOS problem. He said that's not a problem at all. Lots of people do that. The INS will ask for my file at the right time. (looks like they did!) That's all. That was the only time I ever called NVC.

FYI. My lawyer is a big shot lawyer in New-York. Don't ask me why my company chose a lawyer in NY. The paralegal person working on my case said that almost 98% of the cases they file are for CP. And out of those alomost 99% of people go for AOS afterwords. And they never had any problems with it. At that time I did not believe him. But I guess he was right!

Hope this helps. and chill out dude. Don't think about it too much.

Hey Rpt2K,

1. Could you tell me whether u did land up contacting Mumbai Consulate?

2. If you did, what did you ask/tell them?

3. How to find contact details (e-mail / phone#) for such consulates?

Thanks.
