Final Moments Before Leaving US for interview

I am about to leave US for my interview in Mumbai. I am unmarried, so you may have to add extra docs in case u r married.

I have prepared all my documents as follows
1. Passport, photocopies of it
2. DS230 part I(photocopy) & II Visa application (part-II UNSIGNED)
3. Birth Cert. orig + copy
4. Employment letter (orig- notorised)
5. 3 months bank statements
6. last 3 years tax returns (1998, 1999, 2000)
7. IRS 9003 form
8. Copies of all H1, F1 etc
9. Last three pay stubs
10. Company profile
11. Work experience letters
12. Educational certificates and copies

Only thing notarized above is Employment letter.

Now things I need feedback from you all
1. I have not recieved my Packet 4. I plan to collect it from consulate once I reach there. Is that Ok.
2. My interview is in Mumbai. Can I scheude a interview while I am in US with the hospitals. How does it work out. Whom do I call to schedule an interview. What docs are required
3. I am not taking police certificate. My lawyer said it is not required as I stayed only in US and India
4. I am not taking sailing permit. It has never been asked for
5. Please help me with the photos.
 - Size
 - Posture
 - Background
 - Number of photos
Please help me with the details for above for both the consulate and the hospital
6. Please help me with the fees
 - Amount
 - Nature (Demand Draft)
 - Currency Types (US$ or Rupees)
 - Whom do I draft the check to
Please give me the details of above for Consulate as well as the Hospital

Also please add documents you think I may need to carry.

Arrange the documents in separate folders for your easy access, if you have not done it already.

   ---> Don\'t forget to take Mumbai consulate web page printout with your case details for reference and
         any email interactions with consulate. That may help you get duplicate copy of P4.

   --> Not sure about Mumbai, but Chennai consulate web has this information about doctors. I guess Mumbai should
        also has this info on their site. As far as docs are concerned, you need you passport, appointment letter, medical form
        from which comes in P4.

   3. I am not taking police certificate. My lawyer said it is not required as I stayed only in US and India
   --> Not required in you lived only in India and US.

   4. I am not taking sailing permit. It has never been asked for
   --> Not required.

   5. Please help me with the photos.
    - Size
    - Posture
    - Background
    - Number of photos
    --> refer previous postings which would suggest photo studios who are aware of immigration style photos.
         Refer web site for accurate details about other info. You need 2 passport style photos, and 3 immigration style photos.

   Please help me with the details for above for both the consulate and the hospital
   6. Please help me with the fees
    - Amount
    --> 1 DD for Rs.12480.00 ($260) for Application fee
         1 DD for Rs.3120.00 ($65) for Issuance fee
         This is based $1 = Rs.48. But just double check with consulate in December if there is any change.

    - Nature (Demand Draft)
    --> DD would be fine.

    - Currency Types (US$ or Rupees)
    --> Rupees

    - Whom do I draft the check to
    --> Payable to \'American Consulate General\' at Mumbai

All the best .. i m sure things will go well.

Do me a favour .. while picking up your passport
have a look at any messages posted on the glass window
at the pick up booth.
There are rumours that , there is a message saying that
"everyone" needs police certificates from Jan 2002 onwards .

This will be a big help .. I m appearing in Jan in Mumbai.
I just wanted to get peace of mind .. we have lost a lot of sleep
about this police cert crap.

Also , once you get the passport .. walk across the street
from the consulate .
There\'s a store called "Snowmans" . They have the best
"softee" ice cream in bombay. Treat yourself , you deserve it!

Photos

You can go to my photo studio ..its in the "Gwalia tank / august kranti marg area " .. not too far from the kemps corner flyover.
You can find the tel nos , by doing a search on this site,
They know the exact requirements for photos.

If you can t get it ..no stress... you can get it from within
the consulate itself .. they have a photograher.

But personnaly , I would get the pictires before hand.. dont leave
anything to the last minute.

PS: you might also want to try out the choclate coated donuts at snowmans .. tastes awesome ..especially when you see it being made.
