Filling the 2year document away from US

Please offer some information and advise on how to fill the document to be allowed to be away for 2years.

This is how I did it, if it helps
Download and fill I-131 forms. I requested expedite service, as i needed to be back in Japan in a hurry. I wrote a cover letter stating my request and reason. Add the money order (305$ for re entry permit, 80$ for biometry) I included a pre paid express mailer too. Outside the envelope type "Re entry permit- expedite service" in clear letters.

I was called for the biometry after 3weeks and got my permit the next week.
If you need more information, I'd be happy to.
 
Thanks for your advice. Is it a must to wait for it before you leave the US or they can just mail it to you when you are gone and get it mailed to you by the relatives or someone in your country? The letter for the purpose and reason do they need an evidence eg like work contract?? If you dont mind, would you share how you stated your letter. When i read online it stated that you include a copy of form1-551 what is that? did you include photographs? on the website it also said yu pay $165. why did you pay $305?Thanks much
