filled 485 as assylee, got married after, please help

Hi,

I was granted with asylee "legal allien status", after few years I filled 485 on the basis of asylee (takes for ever), now I am getting married to a US citizen. I know it will speed up my GC issuance, probably it will (485) be updated as a marriage basis, now, my question:

-If I get green card in a few weeks and get divorced after (god forbid), will that automatically mean I will loose GC, and I will have to re-apply on asylee basis again, and wait 10 more years???

Please let me know, I am not sure what to do.

There are so many things you can't predict and plan for, what happens if you get hit by a truck(god forbid) tommorrow?

It is unlikely that they will entertain anymore applications from someone who has commited immigration fraud. In such an event, you of course have the option to stay illegally and lead a normal life like so many millions do in this country.
