Hi All,

I landed in Canada on December 31st, 2002 and came back to US in a week. Can you please tell me whether it is required to file the tax return for canada eventhough I never worked there and also I landed right at the end of the year. I am very much confused as I've heard that the deadline for filing the tax return already passed.

Thanks.

Since, you haven't worked in canada, so you don't have to file
any tax returns for 2002.

Hope this info helps you.

Vijay :)

If you landed on Dec 31, 2002 then you do not have to file taxes for year 2002. However you will be required to file taxes for year 2003 on your world income. Moreover the last day to physically file your return is on or before April 30, 2003.

If you are self employed, then your return is due on or before June 15th, 2003. But if you owe taxes then you have to pay the amount on or before April 30, 2003.
