Hello Gurus -

I got my greencard around 6 months back. After staying in US for last 5 years, I would like to go to India for a year or so, to see (and may be try out) some of the opportunities that are available there. I would also like to keep my "green card" as I do want to keep the option of coming back to US, open. I believe, I do have to file the re-entry permit (I-131), but I am not sure whether it is too soon to apply for that. Please let me know if anyone has any experience or had talked to any lawyer on this matter. Also, please do share your thoughts on this.

Good idea but

It is never too soon, depends on individual circumstances. BTW in this info-age finding opportunities in India can be done even without being physically being in India. Why not continue earning the mighty dollar?
