I have been following this forum for sometime. This is really great and helpful.

I am planning to file PR from buffalo.

Could someone please tell me if there is any difference between filing Canadian PR on your own and filing through a lawyer.

I have seen somewhere in this forum that by filing through a lawyer you have the advantage of continuing your process in Buffalo even if you happened to move to India for a long term.
Is it true?

If not true, then do I have to start the PR process from scratch after I move to India.
As you know, in India the PR process a very longtime(4 years)

I would really appreciate your answer as I am planning to file in few weeks.

Thank you very much for your time.

If you apply through lawyer , then you can do all correspondance on his adress and then you could travel anywhere without delaying the process or haveing to change address ever when moving for immigration purposes .

Thanks much for your reply.
Sorry to ask you the same thing again.
So, if file in Buffalo, NY and move to India for good, can I continue my processing in Buffalo? because the processing in India
takes a very long time.
Please clarify. Thanks again.

If you get an interview in US , you will have to come back and give it here . You may not get a visa for that ...

Thanks bund very much.

A question on the same note. Sorry, I am bit naive to the PR process.
1. Do they call for interview always or only for selected cases?
2. When will they call for interview (at what stage), i.e.after
how many months?

Thanks again for your reply & time.

They May call you , Not everbody gets an Interview waiver .

I think before medical you should get an Interview call

APPLY

Forms are very simple,no need for Attorney....

you don't have to hire lawyer... unless your case is complex.

Now days points are historic low i.e 67 so you should not have any issue.

It won't make any impact on your application, how did you file (i.e by yourself or through lawyer).

SAVE MONEY... you'll need in CANADA.

Even If you move to india, still your case will be processed in US unless you request, but in case of interview in US , u are responsible to for US visa.

Hope this helps....

:D :D :D

Hi Cat & Mouse,

Thanks for the valuable information.

If I move to India, do I have to give an US address for
correspondence to the embassy or can I give Indian address
and still continue the PR process in Buffalo, US.
I appreciate your reply.
Thanks much.

I think, you should give USA's address.

I applied from India. then I moved to USA. then I transferred my file to USA. So, from USA, it started from almost scratch. And In USA, I was doing contract job. so every 6 months, moving from one city to to other city. So, I gave them friend's stable address. You can do that.

If you give India's address, then during interview more questions will be asked about your India's stay etc.

It is not good idea to transfer file from USA to India also(if you thinking so). India is slow process.

Vsshah, your reply is very useful.

While applying for PR do I have to attach the Police certificates for
all countries I lived since age 18. Basically, I lived in India, UK
and USA. Can I just apply now and include the Police cerificates
when requested later.
Do they check police certs for all the countries? Can I send the police certificates just
for India and USA.
I greatly appreciated your inputs in this matter.
