Filing I-485 & AP

To all,
My I-140 recently got approved. My lawyer will file for my I-485. I am also in need of traveling back to my country, and my lawyers suggests that I apply for AP (Advance Parole) and he said that once we get the receipt notice of I-485 we can apply for AP. Elsewhere, I have read that one can apply for I-485 and AP at the same time. Is that true? Can someone please elaborate on this matter?

That is not true! You can apply for your AP at the same time as when you are applying for the I485. Infact you could also file for you EAD too.

How does one go about making the decision between choosing Consular Processing or Adjustment of Status after the I 140 has been approved? Any help/advice sincerely appreciated.
