Filing for I-485 but Visa Stamp expired

I have just received my I-140 approval notice and I am now filing for I-485. However my h1-b (I797) extension approval also came recently and I have not yet got my passport stamped with the new H1-b. My visa expired on Aug 15,2001. If I file I-485 with copy of my old visa, Can INS reject it on the grounds that my visa is not current? Or can there be any other problems due to this? Getting new visa stamped may take another 4 weeks.

Visa is for entering USA. As long as you in status while in USA
you should be ok. I submitted my I-485 while my visa stamp
expired long time ago but I was in status at that time or before.
