Filing for H-1B 7th year extension - Help Please !

Hello everyone,

My H-1B 6 year period is about to expire on April 1, 2002. My I-140 got approved very recently and I even filed for I-485 a couple of days ago.
I understand that I still need to apply for a 7th year extension and I cannot work until I get the EAD otherwise. I am planning on applying for H-1B 7th year extension myself as my attorney is charging an arm and leg for the extension and my company is not willing to pay for it at this time.

My questions are :

1. What kind of supporting documentation I need along with this type of petition ? Is it pretty much similar to applying for a H-1B transfer for example ?

2. Do I need to attach a copy of LCA that we have obtained for the original H1-B petition ?

3. Do I need to attach copies of I-140 approval notice and LC or just I-140 approval notice is enough ?

4. Has anybody done this before (applying for the extension by themselves) ? If you have, could you please share your experiences with me ?

I have only 15 days left on my current H-1 and I am trying to file for the extension within the next 2-3 days. Any suggestions or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Still Looking for Help !!!!!

I am still looking for some help on the questions I posted. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am quickly running out of time.

Thanks in advance.

filing is....

In H-1B extension, most of the things are from employer\'s side including filing of lca, filing petition etc, requesting DOL and INS for extending a person\'s employment duration in that company, showing why the employer needs his services etc etc. Well, in simple words, an employee cannot file his own H-1B. You can go ahead and file an EAD for yourself based on a pending I-485. But not an H-1B case.
