Filing for Greencard for Parent : Sent I-130 only instead of I-130 and I485

Hi,

I am U.S. Citizen and I just filed I-130 for my parent currently in US on visitor visa. I sent it to Nebraska. I have received receipt notice of I-130. I just realized now that I could have filed I-485(and other forms) concurrently. Can any one give suggestion about what should I do now.

- Should I wait for I-130 approval from Nebraska. If yes, what is the wait time for that. I definitely want it within 6 months.

OR

- Should I file I-485 now. If I can file 485 package now, where should I sent it? Nebraska or Chicago.

If any one has done such thing, I will appreciate any feedback.

If you can wait 6 months, then wait for the I-130 approval, that is usually what it takes...

or you can wait to receive the Notice of Action from the Service Center and send the I-485 with a copy of that receipt to the Chicago Lockbox. Along with all of the supporting documents.

PraetorianX, Don't you have anything better to do besides nit picking minute typing errors. All I did was provide options for the individual and VALUABLE fee information that could help them with making a decision.

Next time instead of worrying about my typing errors why don't you during your so called "googling sessions" find objective solutions that rely on facts and not opinion.

None of us are immigration lawyers (including YOU) and therefore we need to provide people with the most up to date information that they can research on their own and not just guess at what they should do just because we want to see our screen name posted a thousands times a day.

Lol. I do not care about my screen name post a thousand times... this is not your regular forum where you gain EXP points or Levels by posting. I rather enjoy helping people when I can (as you said I am not an immigration lawyer), when I can not speak of something I know, I just pass.

And two, if you truly want to help someone (and I believe you did) then edit your post and correct it when you see a mistake, do not send someone on a scavenger hunt for the I-145 (that does NOT exist).
