Filing for Green Card

Hi everyone,

I am here on a student visa and me and my GF are now about to get married and she will be filing my Green car app very soon. I am presently studying and working in New York and she is working in Philadelphia, so we would not be able to live together for sometime before either of us changes places.

I would really appreciate some advice on the question below.

1. Should we get married in New York or Philadelphia and where it would be best to file for my adjustment of Status?

2. What else should we show that are marriage is bona fide as we will be living 2 hours away and be meeting each other on the weekends only. We have a joint account and some bills at her address.

3. What will happen to my student visa will I continue on it or I will be on Temp green card.

4. Lastly, how long does it take for the adjustment of status acknowledgment to come and EAD to come?

Thanks a ton

Is your GF a USC? If yes it is a lot easier and faster. Take lots of pictures to prove it is a bonafide marriage. Best would be also to get a marriage license.

It doesn't matter where you get married, but where you file would be where your permanant address is. If your name is on the bills at your girlfriend's address, then I would assume you'd file at her local office.
I'm pretty sure you will keep the student visa until you're approved and you get your GC.
I'm also not sure how long it takes them to acknowledge your application, but you will receive your EAD 90 days after they receive it. If they don't send it to you after the 90 days are up, you can make an infopass appointment at your local office and go and get it.
Hope this helps!

Thanks guys , this really helps :) . I am in New York and she is in Philly, so we were wondering who leaves what but both of us cannot leave our city as she is working and has bought a house there.
Also, I had a EAD card as I had done internship and used some of my OPT, is the A# on EAD the same A# they ask for on I-130 ?
