Filing EB1-OR while EB2 AOS is pending

Hi all,
My I-140 based on an EB2 petition was approved in 2008. My I-485 based on this petition is pending with the USCIS. In the meanwhile, I have received EAD and advance parole (which I have also gotten renewed a couple of times).
Now, I am interested in filing a new I-140 in the EB1-OR category. Can someone please comment on whether a new I-140 petition in the EB1-OR category has any bearing on my pending AOS case, which was based on a previous, approved I-140 in the EB2 category? If I do go ahead with the EB1 filing, will I be able to continue to renew my EAD and advance parole based on the previous I-140 filing?

regards,

A

Curious: why are you wanting to do this? Do you expect the 485 to be denied? At the moment you can work and travel under your EAD and AP. What would be the advantage of EB1-OR?

Well, the reason I would like to do is the waiting time. My priority date on the EB2 petition is in 2007, which would still take a few years to come through. Instead, if I file an EB1-OR petition, I could potentially get approved for permanent residency much faster.

So, will my new EB1-OR petition have any bearing on the older, ongoing EB2 petition?

regards,

A
