Hello everyone,
I've downloaded all forms and started filling them. I have a question about affidavit of support.
My wife is usc. Her salary is low, she's getting paid a minimum wage. But she's trying to get a second job to make it look better. My question is: knowing that her salary is low, should we start Filing them? or should I get a lawyer, so that he could do everything for us. Well, I know lawyer is expensive. I canceled my study and got refund. so I can afford a lawyer for right now. So, Please advise me something good, what should we do?
thank you,
Leha

Step by Step Process

There is no need for you to hire an attorney and lot of ppl here on the forum would agree with me on this point. It's just waste of money to tell you the truth. The process is very simple. Follow this link:

As far as filling our form I-864 (Affidavid of support), either you could have someone, may be a close relative or a friend help you fill out form I-864a (joint co-sponsor) or you could show your assets like bank accounts, additional savings and stuff like that. I am sure you guys will be fine.

The forms that you need are:

I-130
I-485
I-864
I-693 (Medical exam)
I-765 (EAD card)
I-131 (AP/Travel Document)

The fees for I-485 and FP is $1010 and I-130 would cost you $355. Keep in mind that you will be required to send 6 passport size pictures with white background.

Please download all the forms from uscis webpage
www.uscis.gov and follow the instructions and guidelines.

You will be mailing your paperpwork to:

Chicago Lockbox
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
P.O. Box 805887
Chicago, IL 60680-4120

Make sure you use certified mail to track your package & always use personal checks to make both payments ($1010 and $355) to Dept of Homeland Security.
