I filed my EAD renewal during the weekend. still I could not check my receipt # in the status check as it says, it could not find the number.. Is it normal??
Also, after filing, the instructions does not say anything like calling ASC to setup biometrics. It says, I should wait for BCIS to send the appointment letter for biometrics?? for efile, I heard that we need to call 1-800 for ASC??
Is it something normal?

Thanks

Relax!

If you e-filed this past weekend, give it a few days...it's normal. Check back in 2-5 days.

They will send you an appointment letter, you don't have to call up.

The receipt number will not show up in the online system for a few days. In general I waiget the paper receipt in the mail after a week or so and then put the receipt into my portfolio. That usually gives it enough time.

I felt e-filing is is not hazzle free and has no time benefit and it calls for sending addtional documents thro mail. Also one has to be ready for going to ASC to take biomentrics.

Is there any benefit in e-filing? Is it better than paper filing, in terms of fast approval?

Paper Filing is good

I have renewed my EAD/AP four times. I prefer Paper filling. It is easy and speedy process. No hassle for fingerprint.

You don't need to call ASC anymore, you will receive a biometrics appointment from USCIS directly.

I efiled my EAD renewal with NSC on Jan 8th and got my receipt notice on Jan 10th. I sent in my supporting documents on Jan 9th and there was a LUD change on Jan 11th. I got my biometrics appointment for Feb 2nd sometime last week but there was no LUD change.

Hi ,

I second minn_labor on his statement !!! I did the same thing , and i had my FP done few days back , after that i had 2 LUD's , and now i'm waiting for aproval !!!

Just be patient and you'll get an answer soon !!!

Are you saying the e-Filing EAD requires you to take biometrics but the mail filing does not require the biometrics? Is it true?

Does Supporting documentaion Needs full copy of passport??

Do we need to send the full copy of passport(new and expired) or just first two pages where it shows the Bio information??
Does any one know??

If you are doing a family based AOS then you need biometrics whether you e-file or paper file. I have also had biometrics for both systems. If you are employment based then I'm told you can avoid biometrics by doing a paper file.

To be on the safe side, I send a copy of the entire passport.

I've only ever sent the bio page.

Regarding e-file vs paper file. I have always paper filed before but this year I e-filed my AP renewal and it went to CSC and came back in a month. Because that was so fast I e-filed my EAD renewal. Unfortunately that went to NBC and I am now on day 84 with nothing. So I would advise filing whichever way will get your application to a service center rather than NBC.

Quick question

Few questions:
Paper filling - No biometrics
E-filing - You have to go for biometrics

What are the advantages/disadvantages by avoiding biometrics? If you do your biometrics does it take longer time to get your EAD approved?

As far as I recollect your biometrics expires in 15 months. If your dates become current and your 485 is ready to be approved, then by doing the biometics beforehand will it not help a speedy approval?

Thanks in advance.

EAD biometrics is one fingerprint and a photo, different thing from your I485 biometrics. The EAD biometric fingerprint and photo goes on your card.
