It's technically possible to do this, except that if your 140 is denied at this point, so will your 485 and you will lose your filing fees.
Considering the issue of retrogression (even the possibility of it for EB2 in the near future), if you are elegible to file for the 485, I would file it asap so that you can apply for EAD and AP.
