If, for example, one's number becomes current in February, is it possible to file on April or May? I'm thinking more about Consular Processing case. The reason is because of my complicated case, I might not going to make it in time.

I understand, but if I file it on time, but couldn't make it to the interview, wouldn't it make more complicated? I'm still in USA right now and I plan for CP instead AOS. So I was thinking to file it later when I'm sure I could it make it to the interview.
