My company may want to transfer me to an office located in another country, which has no social security agreement with US. My employer and I have paid the FICA taxes for 7 years. But once I get transferred over there I will be paid locally. And nobody knows how long that job will last, maybe permanent.
Since I am still 3 years away from the 10 years minimal requirement for benefits after retirement, can I pay US FICA taxes by myself? I will continue to pay US income tax to keep my green card and apply for US citizenship in the future, but that's another story.
If I can, does anyone know the procedures and forms?
If I can't, and if I never work in US again, can I at least get my paid FICA taxes back?
NOTE: I have already checked the Social Security Admin web site, but most international information is related to gettting benefits from overseas not paying taxes while working overseas.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
