FG notice received in absence

Hi Everyone

What happens if one is out of country and FP notice is received during one's absence? I'll be away for few weeks and my family for extended period. I also wonder how much time would one has b/w the date FP is received and the appointment. Secondly, what if one misses out the appointment?
Beside, I wonder when my notice will show up in mail.

I-140 approved 7/23/04
485 filed 2/4/2004

Any ideas? suggestion?

Thanks
Naveed

my I-485 RD: 2/5/04.
FP notified date: 9/23/04
FP date: 10/4/04

my husband I-485 RD: 2/5/04
FP notified date: 9/10/04
FP date: 10/29/04

You can see that the time in between ND and Appointment date varies. i received it later but appointment date is closer. I can go to INS on the next Wednesdays (walk in date) until early Dec this year. So if you missed the first appointment, you can always go the walk in one. But you can not miss the last due date (in my case, Dec 2004).

So it depends on how long you will be out of country. a couple of weeks, might not a big deal. But be sure the address that INS have is correct and updated.

If you miss the due date without FP done, I read some post and it looks like your I-485 will be rejected most likely.

I believe u can postpone FP for a month or so and if u respond
ur 485 will certainly will NOT be rejected.

haoyun04,

How did you find your last due date? I was not able to find anything like that on the FP notification.

thanks

Hi Goku

right above Application Support Center and date and time, there is a paragraph stating as following:

To process you application, the US citizen & Immigration Service (USCIS) must take your finger print and have them cleared by FBI. PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE APPOINTED DATE AND TIME TO HAVE YOUR FINGERPRINT TAKEN. If you are unable to appear at this time, you may go on any following Wednesday at the same time noted below, as long as you appear before 12/7/04. If you do not have your fingerprints taken by that date, your application will be considered abandoned.

Hope this helps.

haoyun04,

In my FP notice, that paragraph asks me to reschedule it if I am not able to meet the current shedule. No mention about a final date. May be difference in individual local offices. Mine is tampa, florida.

thanks
