Fellow Cper's, I have few questions on filling the Pakcte-3 (DS 230 part-1).

What should I write in item(column)-25.

25. List dates if all previous visits to or residence in the USA. Give type of visa status, if known. Give INS "A" number if any.

I am under employment based CP and living in US for the past 5 1/2 years on H1-B. Do I need to mention all the details or just ignore this question.

and the other question is
According to new NVC procedures.. Do I need to provide affidavit of support for my wife(dependent) now? or at the time of interview?

Thanks,

Your last question first:
You have to take the notarized I-134 along with the papers for the interview, and obviously it will be part of your wife's docket.

About the first question:
I am of the opinion that , this area has to be filled if you have visited US ( as a student , visitor ) earlier , and not if you have continued to stay from the time you entered on your H1B Visa.

But my attorney's office made me fill this up.

I still think it is not necessary, but there is no harm in filling.

Re: Re: Few question in Packet-3

Raju,

did u got your packet 3??? From your answer I can visualise that either you got p3 or your attorneys office has asked you to fill up the downloaded forms available in web.

if it latter, Havent you heard that we should only use the forms sent by NVC and not downloaded forms..... FYI.

Maybe, Hate_tsc or krishna can reply on this....

I have not received the packet III yet.

I am aware that you can not send the packet III forms till you
receive it officially from NVC, because you are supposed to use
the address lable generated by them, which contains the bar code.

I am not aware that the forms that come in Packet III are, in any way different than the ones available on the net.

May be some of the CPers who have actually received the packet III can clarify this!

When I received my DS-230 Part I fee bill, NVC says in there, use the Application that NVC sends you. I am not sure if it is a really hard-set line. I sent her multiple copies of DS-230 part 1 form with different formats downloading them from website and had her sign it.

Let's see how is DS-230 form from NVC. Mine is a Family based petition.

When I mean her, I mean my wife. I had my wife DS-230 forms in different formats like (white out page numbers, print the page 1 and 2 on one page with front and back etc).

Thanks Guccidkny..... I want the guys who actually received the ds 230 forms from NVC to reply with exactly what nvc wants( their own forms or downloaded forms are ok)....

Sri:

Who is receiving the DS-230 forms? Aren't you. If you are going through a Lawyer, I know that Lawyers usually print their own from the website. I have a family based Immigrant Visa and I am not going through a lawyer.

I also know that DS-230 part I doesn't have any NVC case number on there, they send out a seperate bar-code sheet. But they would ask you to put the NVC Case # on the sheet.

Thanks

I have not received the Pkt-3 yet. But my attorney has sent the INS link to download and fill the DS230 one each for every member of family. I have not filled yet. I don't know it's of any use or not.

Hi:

I guess it is better if u do that now as it takes time in filling up and make sure every thing is correct and acurate. Trust me, it saves lot of time. by the time ur lawyer receives your P3, they should be able to send your stuff immediately without any further delays... In this way u can save at least a week to 10 days... Once you fill them don't send them to your lawyer and wait till u got yor P3 to see diff in the DS230's....
