Fee

Is this fee of $140 per applicant or is it per form ?
I am planning to file for extension for my parents, from what I understand I would use 1 form and then use the supplement. But what about the fee ? Is it per applicant ?

I think you have to use two sepearate forms, and not the supplement. I am currently trying to apply for an extension for my parents, and I was told by the INS customer service that each individual passport holder will need to file a seperate application on the form I-539. I think the supplement is needed only for something called the "V" visa, and I am not quite sure what the "V" category is. Visitor visa is category "B2".

Again, since you need to separately apply for each parent of yours, you will also need to pay two separate application fees.

There is a distinct probability that the INS customer service agent may have been wrong, as it is widely believed that INS jobs are held by rather low-competency people.

If you have already learned otherwise, please let me know. I will also get educated.

Fee is $140 per family as far as i know

I filed for my parents with $150 check ($140 application fee and $10 supplemental fee) as mentioned on the ins website. we just got letter from INS that the fee is $140 and not $150 and so we should reapply.

so we have reapplied again today.

I got the receipt a couple of days back. So it appears that $140 was the correct amount.

The receipt is in my mother's name, but has my father's name at the bottom.

Recieved the reciept

Hi IamTiredOfThis

Thanx for the reply. I recieved the reciept.
I have sent the documents through Fedex.

FYI -

Recieved by INS on 01/03/03
Reciept Sent by INS on 01/06/03 (Monday)
Recieved the Reciept on 01/09/03

new fee

Is it true that the fee amount has changed since 01/24/03.
The I-539 form says $120.00 but the INS web-site says $102.00

Anybody has more info?
