Finally approved. Last checked on the WEB on March 10th and told myself that I wouldnt check until Friday the 17th. Came home late last night and saw the approval notice in the mail. Huge sense of relief. Opened a bottle of expensive wine and slept until late this morning and came in late to work.

Chronology:

Arrival : 1991 August.

F1 until 1996 November (PhD Molecular Biology)

Started working for a large multinational company in November 1996 on the 1 year Practical Training Card until October 1997

H1 #1 from 1997 October until October 2000.

Started GC through my company's lawyers, Fragomen Del Ray and they REALLY REALLY screwed up. They visited half a dozen times and enquired about my publications, patents to decide on NIW vs. EB1 vs. EB2 vs. RIR etc but never made any progress (I'm not even sure if these people know anything about Immigration Law) My file didnt leave their desk for 2 years.

My company hired a new legal assistant . She was excellent and I owe her many many thanks. She never liked Fragomen and she switched LAW FIRMS and filed my Labor (EB2) through HONIGMAN MILLER SCHWARTZ COHN).

They did an excellent job and filed for labor on September 11th 2000. Labor was approved in October 2001.

I-140 approved in December 2001

I-485 RD : Feb 12 2002
I-485 ND : March 1st 2002
FP1 : May 6th 2002

Switched to a *similar* job in September 2002 (after 180 days using AC21) - gave up H1 #2 and started using EAD Card.

I didnt inform INS/BCIS about the job change but my new company's lawyers sent a G-28 saying that they they would now represent me.

FP1 expiration: August 6th 2003 (after 15 months)

Promptly received FP2 notice in mail (never changed adresses) on September 1st 2003 and appeared as scheduled on September 9th 2003 for FP2.

Filed for EAD #3 and advance parole #3 on Feb 9th 2004 - dont really care about this anymore :-)

I-485 Approval Date : March 11th 2004 (exactly 25 months after RD). I received a courtesy copy of the approval notice . The new lawyers received the original copy suggesting that BCIS actually managed to link the G28 to my case :-)

I really appreciate everyone in this informative forum and GOOD LUCK to everybody (especially the left over 2001 cases and the early 2002 cases).

I will update RUPNET
