Does anybody know which web site shows the status of FBI fingerprint and
name checks ? I would like to know whether FBI has finished the checking
or not.

Thanks

I sent my request for background check to FBI in September 2004 and got result at the beginnig of January 2005, so it takes around 4-5 months for them to check your fingerprints.
You can also check if your money order had been cashed. It will give you some idea what is going on. I got my results 3 weeks after money order had been cashed by FBI.
Hope it helps :)

I am doing consular processing (not AOS). They require that you bring police certificate (FBI background check) to your interview, so I had to do request on my own. You pay FBI by money order to check your fingerprints and they send result back to you.
I understand that it is different in case of AOS. Then you do everything through USCIS.

U.S. Police Certificate for CP

I am doing consular processing and our interview is in early April. Regarding the US police certificate, my wife called the US consulate. They told her that the U.S. police certificates are not required for the visa interview. I had lived in the US for more than 6 months (she has never been there).

Are you suggesting that I need the police certificate from the U.S. for the DV visa interview (even though we were informed by the consulate that it is not required).

There is hardly any time for me to get it since our interview is in early April.

Can anyone explain whether a police certificate from US is required or not for CP ?

Thanks and best regards

According to papers from KCC you need police certificate from all countries you lived for more than 6 months. I have lived in US for over 3 years that's why I decided to request FBI background check. I prefer to have all papers on interview even if some of them might not be necessary.
However, it is possible that something has changed and they don't require police certificate from US in consulates anymore. I really don't know for sure.
I would advise you to double check.
If you have interview in April there in no time to request background check from FBI (4-5 months processing time). Try at local police, maybe they can give you some kind of certificate (if you need it).
