This is what they sent me in response to my fax. Does this sound
ok? It sounds a little ominous.

Dear X:

This is in reference to your facsimile dated --, concerning your
immigration status. The FBI completed a record check for you on
--, and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services.
Sincerely yours,
Y

Dear X:

Having looked at the letter from Y I have to congratulate you for the completion of your status inquiry. Now you could sit back and break open a Bud.
Sincerely yours,
D

lecinq,
First, timeframe plz.
And, well, I gotta send a fax to FBI too. Can you post what you sent to FBI??

Thank you.

Time Line:

NYC:

I sent in my application at the end of January of 2004.
I was fingerprinted near the end of May. To my surprise,
my interview date is at 26 Federal Plaza near the end of
October. I'm just sitting tight though. I know that there
are many reasons for a delay even after the delay. So
I decided to check with FBI to see if the requisite checks
went through.

We'll see.

This is my letter -- I ignore the usual salutations, etc.
I faxed it to 202 324 3367.

I am writing to see if your agency has completed a name
check for me in connection with my naturalization (N-400)
application with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services. The relevant information that you may need is
provided as follows:

Last Name:
First Name:
Date of Birth:
E-mail:

I would very much appreciate your e-mail regarding the
status of the name check. Thank you very much for
your assistance with this matter.

I meant -- many reasons for delay after the *interview*.
Somehow I keep having this doomsday scenario that they'll
just deport me or something.

Another piece of info -- FBI claimed they ran the check a couple of
weeks after I submitted my application judging from what they wrote
in the letter.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any thoughts, advice, etc. And best of luck
to all of you as well!

Thank you.
Your timeline is very similar to mine. I applied in March, and got an interview in July, and was told that FBI didn't finish the name check. I am going to send FOIA request. I am soooooo pissed off right now.
Good luck to your interview!

Another question to lecinq:
Do you mind if you reveal when FBI finished the name check?
If you need a privacy about that, plz send the date to this email:
boldlygo2@yahoo.co.kr

Thank you!

Hi boldlygo:

Judging from my receipt date with USCIS and from what
the FBI e-mail said, I think that FBI took about one month
to do the name check. I don't know when they actually
received the request, of course, so the turn around could
have been much shorter. In any case, the whole thing
took about one month.

Where are you applying?
