FBI Name Check?

Folks, I have a quick question.
We applied for 140/485 in Jan 2004[TCS]. In September of 2004 we got notice for finger print. My finger print went okay but my wife's FP got rejected twice because it was not clear. So we had to get a police clearance from all the couty's she lived at in this country. We did that and sent it to INS by end of November.

We got our 140 approval on Dec 23rd but the status of the I485 has not yet changed. It still has the Jan 2004 status of "received your application...."

I guess my next step is to put in an enquiry to FBI?
If this is what I should do, I was looking for a format of the email I should send to them.
If there is another step that I should take, I would really appreciate you folk's help and guidance.

Here is the format i used.
"
Dear Officer,

I have filed an application for adjustment of status to that as of Lawful permanent Resident with the USCIS Texas Service Center on mm/dd/yy. Our application is now pending adjudication at theTexas Service Center.

I am sending this note to you kindly asking for your office to please provide the status of the security/name check I believe the USCIS would have requested upon the filing of our application for adjustment of status.

Again if your Name check is pending there is not much you can do ( my name check is pending since oct 03).
