FBI Name Check Delay: Should I contact my Senator for help ?

Sorry to hear about it, there are many ppl who are on same boat,
I believe nor Congressman neither Senator ppl could help u to expedite that process. However some ppl did get sucess by sending snail-mail/regular mail to get their attention. and FOIPA is another option but use it as last resort.
First try to send snail-mail to them read this.

There is an email addr of National name check FBINNCP@ic.fbi.gov , it takes 3-6 months to get reply back.
3. Snal mail works fine, with carefuly chosen words, u write a letter to "Records Management Division" they would reply, depend on them.
just try, don't make ur letter look like as FOIPA,

Same problem!!
I have had the same problem. I have sent snail mail about a week and half ago, and contacted the congressman last week to look into it!! I will post if any of these efforts have any result.
I had emailed FBI about 4 months ago. So far--no reply.

Thanks POJ. I can't wait for 6 more months for FBI to reply to my email. I've already waited for 2 years for my 485, and looking at the current processing dates for 485 at TSC, I'm gettin very impatient.
Strangely, TSC customer support rep told me that they generally dont follow up with FBI on delayed name checks. I'm now planning to send a request by mail to William L Hooton, Assistant Director and a FOIA request to Hardy, but still debating if I should contact my senator to expedite my name check.

I'm now planning to send a request by mail to William L Hooton, Assistant Director and a FOIA request to Hardy, but still debating if I should contact my senator to expedite my name check.

What is an SR country ?
I've heard that if you have a very common muslim name then it is very likely to get stuck in FBI name check. I'm a hindu, from India, have no criminal background, absolutely clean driving record and an excellent credit history. (Not sure if driving and credit records have any role to play in name check)
I'm not sure why it would take 2 years for FBI to complete my name check.
My guess is either FBI never received my name check request or TSC did not receive the results back from FBI.

It is commonly assumed by most ppl, however fact is still unknown.
It is not about religion/country, the procedure is assumed to be the confirmation of the identy 'that YOU ARE, What is Claimed by You' and not based on Relg/country/origion/athnic.

Thanks for the info taporee , it seems POJ is right there is no real pattern as you mentioned you dont have a muslim name and you are from India while i am stuck since Oct 2003 and i have a common muslim Name and i am from an SR country , so bottom line is Nobody knows.
